Reflections on 2019

With each passing day, we go further into 2019.

2019? 2019.
What is this?
Just a number.
Just another year.

When I look back on my past, there are certain years that I want to erase from my mind - filled with such hurt, disappointment, and more questions than answers. I was hanging on to God by a thread.

Little did I know that while I was hanging on to God by a thread, HE was uploading me with His strong arm.

Over the years, God has been the One who has carried me through those years that were filled with such memories. When I look back, I can remember all the horrible things that have happened to me. Things that are too frustrating, embarrassing, shameful, disheartening to tell.

I’m still here. I’m still standing.

God was with me.

2019 started without waiting for me. Already there have been more questions and answers. But can I trust the God who has always been beside me?

I hope so.
I pray so.

And so I engage with those around me, striving to becoming more like Jesus.

This year’s theme is “Becoming Like Jesus 153”. It’s a reminder for me to stay faithful in the small things.. not just so that I can be given bigger tasks, but so that I can abide in my one True Savior, the One who makes sense of the chaos, hurt, and confusion. This is why I choose to do good works, pray for others, and read the Word.

Bring it on 2019!

No… let Your will be done, Lord. I am Your humble servant.
