HolyWave is the English-speaking ministry of Sa-Rang Community Church.
In 1988, God called a team of twelve led by Pastor Jung Hyun Oh of Sarang Church (Seoul, South Korea) to plant a church in Southern California for a growing Korean community in Orange County. On March 20, 1988, Sa-Rang Community Church (SRCC) was officially founded in the hall of a small piano store in Norwalk, CA.
In 2002, Pastor Jung Hyun Oh received the call to return to South Korea and SRCC welcomed Pastor Daniel Kim who had the heart and God-given vision to raise up the next generation. He dreamed of seeing the next generation take ownership of and get involved in the now well-established SRCC campus in Anaheim, CA. Pastor Daniel therefore saw the need to establish a designated space and identity for the second generation of Korean-American children who were now growing up into adults within the church. In 2007, HolyWave was born, a ministry within Sa-Rang Community Church envisioned to not only provide a haven for second generation Korean-Americans, but to welcome the local community.
Though many leaders had come and gone, HolyWave continued to grow by God’s grace. Through HolyWave, SRCC formed newfound relationships with the local community, working closely with underprivileged students and families in the Anaheim School District every year to this day. In 2015, HolyWave transitioned over to SRCC’s satellite campus, Kingdom Dream Center, to allow more opportunities for members to take ownership of the church.
Having started as an unknown 50-member “English Ministry,” HolyWave now stands over 700 strong, welcoming the prodigal sons and daughters into our own imperfect family. True to the initial vision of being a second-generation community dedicated to taking ownership and getting involved with our church and community, HolyWave now continues to grow, more importantly, as a training and sending base for Christ’s disciples to impact the world. A product of our parents’ sacrificial love and dedication, HolyWave is a testimony of God’s grace and mission for the world.
