Day 1: Welcome to ARISE
“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”

As I am now working far from home, when I think back on SRCC I am still amazed at 특새 and its turnout. My family and I came SRCC early 2013 and as a 5th grader, adapting to a big church was hard. It got even harder when my parents told me and my siblings that we would have to get up at 3:30 in the morning to go to 새벽기도 for 2 weeks. However my mentality quickly changed after attending the first few days. Listening to God’s people lift up praise and worship at 4:30 in the morning really encouraged me to strengthen my relationship with Him. One of the memories that I fall back on is when I was holding my then baby sister while my parents were on stage, my father the drummer and mother a singer. I remember I just became so thankful, for His grace and mercy was able to let me worship such an awesome and powerful God with my family.
특새 for me today means something completely different than what I thought it was on day one. It means unity, not only as family and friends but in the body of Christ. It means warfare and not by flesh and blood but spiritually, by fighting the day to day temptations that the evil one brings. And lastly, 특새 to me means hope, that as all three generations come to worship, the torch will be carried on for generations to come.
Prayer requests:
For this nation to be united so that the power of God can be revealed
Safety for me and all the other servicemen and women so that we may come back home
