Life Submitted to the Lord

Scripture Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:20-28 (NASB)

20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. 21 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming, 24 then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death. 27 For He has put all things in subjection under His feet. But when He says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. 28 When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.

SUMMARY

Apostle Paul writes more on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  He explains further that through Adam came the death for all, so also in Christ all will be made alive, that Christ is the first one to be resurrected and all others will be resurrected when Christ comes back.  Then the end will come when Jesus abolishes all rules, authority, and power then hands over the world to God and will reign until He has put all HIs enemies under HIs feet, last of which is death.  So all things are subjected to the Son, and the Son is subjected to God the Father, and God may be all in all.

MEDITATION & REFLECTION

When I read this passage, it reminded me that a huge part of our faith is believing in the resurrection of Christ. Paul was once a persecutor of Christians but became resurrected and had his sins forgiven because of God’s sacrifice. It makes me believe more and more of Jesus’s resurrection and the Gospel because of the suffering that Paul had to go through to spread the good news. I also thought about the time I became a believer and became resurrected myself. My old world views were put to death and I became alive again in Christ. Before I felt like I was attached to this world and lived for God’s creation instead of living for the creator.

Verse 28: “When all things are subjected to him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One” resonated with me because I realized that this world really needs God. Jesus came down to earth to teach us how to live and to worship God. With the social unrest, political tensions, hate, racism and violence going on in this world, if people followed Jesus’s teaching and lived by the word of God, this world would be a much better place. It made me think about how I can be a witness to God and become a model for others as God’s witness.

APPLICATION

I want to be more and more focused on the Lord. My wife and I recently decided to serve for e-kinder ministry and I also volunteered to lead the youth group at my old Church. While taking on many roles, I don’t want to just do it for the sake of doing works for Christ but because of my faith. It reminds me that I am serving God because I believe in the gospel and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Also, I will remind myself the reason Jesus came to earth, died, and resurrected. I will remind myself the sacrifice that God made for all of us as well as the sacrifice Paul has made to spread the good news.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me the importance of Jesus’s resurrection  and how it is one of the essential parts of the Gospel. I repent for sometimes forgetting why I serve and who I am serving. I repent for just checking boxes off my list and not focusing on honoring you. I pray that you use me to honor you and to be a witness for you. I pray for wisdom on how I can share the gospel and the resurrection of Jesus to nonbelievers around me and to resurrect them to become believers. I am very grateful to be Yourvdisciple, Lord and to glorify You in everything I do. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
