Being Bold in Proclaiming God's Words

Scripture Passage: Jeremiah 26:10-15 (NASB)

10 When the officials of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house to the house of the Lord and sat at the entrance of the New Gate of the Lord’s house. 11 Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the officials and to all the people, saying, “A death sentence for this man! For he has prophesied against this city, just as you have heard with your own ears!”

12 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and to all the people, saying, “The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard. 13 Now then, reform your ways and your deeds and obey the voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will relent of the disaster which He has pronounced against you. 14 But as for me, behold, I am in your hands; do with me as is good and right in your sight. 15 Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city and its inhabitants; for truly the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words so that you hear them.”

SUMMARY

After Jeremiah prophesied against the city of Jerusalem, he was arrested and brought amongst the priests and prophets at the entrance of the New Gate. Jeremiah proclaimed to the priests and prophets that God had sent him to prophesy about God’s judgement against the people of Jerusalem. Jeremiah’s main goal was to finish God’s mission.

MEDITATION AND REFLECTION

I was truly inspired by Jeremiah’s relentlessness and determination in proclaiming God’s word even though he may be faced with death. Reading this passage definitely builds my faith because Jeremiah and many other martyrs wouldn’t have had the courage to risk their lives without God and the holy spirit.

APPLICATION

Currently I have been so busy with the daily life of work, caring for my wife and moving into a new home. I don’t think I have been doing God’s work or even trying to further God’s kingdom in any way like Jeremiah. I pray that God uses me and gives an opportunity to share the gospel to those around me. I want to start being bold and sharing the gospel to my cousins who are nonbelievers and more bold about my faith to those around me.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for your mercy. Even though I have not been so faithful, you continue to pursue me and love me no matter how broken I am. I pray that I can be used as your vessel to proclaim your word to those around me like Jeremiah and not be fearful of what others may think of me. I pray that I can be proud and bold in my faith for you. I also pray that I can also be a great Father and Husband to my family and be a witness to you Lord.
