Young Life: Impacting Hearts Foster Youth Ministry
PARTIES with a PURPOSE!
Impacting Hearts OC is an outreach and mentoring program sponsored by Young Life (www.younglife.org) that exists to introduce every child within the local foster care system to Jesus Christ, help them grow in their faith, provide them with the sense of family they lack, and lead them toward self-sustaining adulthood. Impacting Hearts works closely with the Department of Child and Family Services and various foster family agencies in order to provide these foster youth an opportunity to be part of this program. HolyWave has partnered with Impacting Hearts to host weekly gatherings (AKA “club”) for middle school students (6th-8th grade) every Thursday at 7 PM in Building F (MPR). High school and college clubs also gather on various days (see full details below).
Volunteer leaders seek to create and maintain personal relationships with the students and disciple them in the Word. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to visit a club gathering to get a sense of what the ministry is all about. New volunteers must apply and interview with the area director, Jay Panther, and also go through training to learn what to expect when interacting with foster children and their families.
