Yesterday’s Sermon

“Check Your Faith”

2 Corinthians 13:5

Pastor Ki-Seong Yoo, Good Shepherd Church

This a time when we cannot worship publically and have fears about the virus. Although it is a difficult time to live, we should reflect during this time and know what God wants us to do. This is the time to check our faith and ask ourselves, “Do we really believe in the Lord?”

“What do we have do during this time?”

We may be experiencing many frustrations or have many questions. However, God is saying, “Why are you afraid?” God knows everything and the world follows God’s plan. For Christians, we have to think about what will bring joy to God. Furthermore, we have to examine our spiritual walk. Did we worship because of the location, people, and pastor? Now we are all by ourselves with no one’s help.

There are two types of people: the one who truly believes in God, and the one who thinks that he or she is worshipping God. If we truly believe in God’s love, we will not be shaken. God’s love will always give us confidence in every circumstance we are in. For Christians, we have to show this faith and confidence to the world. If we confess that Jesus is with us and yet still show doubts, we are lying to the world. Our actions and words must align with each another.

Often, people are filled with doubts and concerns because they do not truly believe that Jesus is with them. In other words, the main root of our problem is whether or not we know that Jesus is with us. If we truly believe that Jesus is with us, we will have peace, joy, and confidence. When Jesus dwells in us, we can love our enemies and see God’s blessing in the midst of all the problems.

Kendrick’s 특새

Our son Kendrick, who has autism, has been attending 특새 for the last 10 years. Since attending 특새 is an annual event in our household, Kendrick is aware that after Thanksgiving that he needs to wake up at 3:00 am to go to church. With the grace of God, we have never had any difficulty waking up Kendrick to attend 특새 all these years and this year is no exception. Kendrick, did realize, that this year was different because we were watching online. However, with Pastor Ro’s familiar face, Kendrick was able to adjust well to this year’s Arise 2021. Our family gets blessed through the messages throughout the week. However, when we see Kendrick participating in 특새, we don’t see his disability but get encouraged with what God is doing to our family through Kendrick. God teaches us that Kendrick has more ability than disability in showing us how great God is in our family. In order to make Arise 2020 as close as possible to the ones before, mom prepared 소고기 무우국 for the first day breakfast for 특새 which Kendrick enjoyed very much.

From Meeting Friends to Meeting God at Teuk-Sae

Sarah K, e-High (12th)

I started to attend Teuksae because of my friends since we promised to see each other in the morning. Another reason is because of my family since I didn’t want to be home alone sleeping. Teuksae used to be a time where I was able to meet my friends, but now Teuksae is something special and meaningful for me. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to hear God’s word and worship early in the morning with my family and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ through Teuksae. Since this year’s Teuksae is going to be online, I personally think I will have a harder time getting up and attending the services. However, I am looking forward to my family and many other families to gather together at our homes and worship the Lord and give our all to Jesus in the morning. A prayer request is to be able to attend all services throughout the 2 weeks of Teuksae. Some other prayer requests I have is to continue to spend time with the Lord daily and to seek Him in all circumstances.
